Planning Consultation
In May 2009 Baltic Wharf’s owners put in an application for outline planning permission for the revival of the site.
The plans submitted to South Hams District Council have been shaped by the support and suggestions received from local people.
Above all, the site’s owners have strived to maximise the jobs, public open space and affordable homes on the site, as well maintain Baltic Wharf’s strong marine links.

As part of the planning process, South Hams District Council will now hold its own public consultation on the Baltic Wharf proposals, which it will advertise locally. To find out more contact South Hams District Council
The planning consultation isn’t the first time people have had an opportunity to comment on the scheme. When the project was launched in May 2008, Baltic Wharf’s owners hosted two exhibitions to enable residents to view and discuss the plans. Over 500 people attended, the vast majority finding favour with the revival of the site and the proposals presented.
The plans were also discussed with key stakeholders, winning the support of Dart Harbour and Navigation Authority for the marine plans, Devon Primary Care Trust for the Retirement Village and the Regional Design Panel for the design, density, scale and massing proposals.
The project team has listened closely to the many comments received and has improved the scheme in many ways based on these discussions.
A public consultation statement summarising the consultation has been submitted with the planning application.
