The Site Today
Baltic Wharf, with 400 metres of quayside close to Vire Island and around a half mile level walk from Totnes town centre, is currently home to a boatyard, several marine businesses and other office based and light industrial companies. Around 100 people currently work there.

However, the existing buildings are in a poor state and most date back to the former use of the site as Reeves timber yard when wood was imported by sea from the Baltic, hence the name!
Baltic Wharf is run by TQ9 Partnership, comprising of three local families based in the Totnes area.
In October 2007, South Hams District Council published the Totnes and Dartington Preferred Options Plan, which identifies Baltic Wharf as one of the key sites in the town for redevelopment.
The Council wants to see it regenerated for employment use but points out that the site’s proximity to the centre of town, together with the need to ensure a financially viable and comprehensive development, means that residential, including affordable homes, may be necessary.
